Our spot was gorgeous, but Roger told us it was likely the hyenas would try to take the carcass after dark. We hustled back and were treated to some of the most eerie sounds I've ever heard. Check out my youtube channel to hear what we heard. Hyena calls in high-pitched stereo with the occasional lion low grumbles. We stayed for at least an hour. It was clear the lions were finished with the giraffe and would move off, but they didn't make it easy.
