Botswana and Tanzania 2010

Getting a hotel room in Johannesburg during the World Cup was impossible, so we flew from San Francisco to London where we spent the better part of 2 days. This worked out well for David because the impressionist art auctions were in progress. From London we took British Airways to Johannesburg. Somehow, we got upgraded to Business Class. <br />

The above photo doesn't really do justice to the convoluted seating which accommodates 8 flat bed seats in each row. We were in the center aisle in 2 seats facing backwards. If our seatmates had their beds extended, we basically had to pole-vault out over their feet in order to get up. However, the upgrades were much appreciated for the 9-hr flight to South Africa because we were going to hit the ground running. We arrived in Johannesburg in the early morning, then connected a few hours later to a flight headed for Maun, Botswana.......
