As the sun was setting, we lost the dogs and assumed they'd returned to the den without having made a kill. We got out of the vehicle to set up for sundowners. No sooner were we on the ground than a wild dog wandered by, not two feet from us. Hmmm... wild dog, no kill, and us just standing there with no place to go. BD and Carlos were relaxed about all this, so our hearts stopped racing. These dogs are quite habituated to humans and simply ignored us. They weren't frightened or aggressive or even interested.... it was as if we didn't exist.
