The dogs chased the warthog to the new burrow. We expected them to leave as they'd done earlier, but this time they all stayed and kept on digging. We heard the warthog making threatening sounds, but the dogs persisted. Jacob couldn't figure out why the dogs were pursuing what appeared to be a lost cause, but all of a sudden he said "they've got him!". We didn't find out what really happened until we were leaving the scene almost an hour later. At that point, a dazed warthog emerged from the same burrow. He'd been inside the whole time. Turns out our unlucky warthog had selected a second occupied burrow, only this time it was too late to escape.
