South Africa and Zambia 2008

This is a thriving wild dog pack consisting of 9 adults and 8 three-month old pups. We were extremely lucky last year to find a wild dog den, so finding one again this year was more than we had hoped for. Even though these animals are Africa's fiercest and most efficient predators, more dangerous predators (humans) have driven them close to extinction. Our timing here was great.. by the next morning the pack had abandoned the den and were nowhere to be seen.
