2022 Alaska - Sitka

Herring spawn along the shoreline in Sitka from late March through mid-April. The herring draw whales and eagles, which in turn draw photographers. The problem is both the weather and wildlife are hugely unpredictable at this time of year. We got lucky with the weather, unless you count the fact that we couldn't leave the harbor for 1.5 out of 5 days due to gale force winds. Not much rain during our stay, but we did have 2 brief snow storms.

When the sun is shining, the scenery is so stunning, it makes the wait to see it well worthwhile.
