We're in Drake's Passage now, the most unruly stretch of water in the world. It will take us 2 days to reach calm water, but the good news is amazing birds will be with us the entire way. This is a wandering albatross, the largest flying bird in the world with a wingspan of approximately 12 feet. This one is probably close to 40 years old. As they age, their bodies turn from speckled brown to pure white. The older ones also learn to stay far away from the ships they follow. This is when I started craving a longer lens.
