Borneo 2016

Luck was definitely with us on this trip. We had very little rain, with hot, but not super-hot temperatures, and many interesting sightings. This is a rare glimpse of a young male orangutan building a nest. We encountered him on the way back from our very first outing. Orangutans are solitary animals. Each one builds a new nest every evening around sunset. It was quite dark when this shot was taken, but at least you'll get the idea. This fella was way high up in a tree breaking off branches and carefully arranging them so the finished product would support his weight.
