The highest probability of seeing a tiger is from the back of an elephant. Here's how the system works: the mahouts (the keepers, trainers, drivers of the elephants) go out early each morning searching for tigers. At the same time, park rangers issue passes to each jeep requesting one. The jeeps then drive a long distance to a waiting station, pictured here, to get issued a number for tiger viewing. If a tiger is found, all the jeeps race to the site to wait in line for elephant rides. If a tiger isn't found, you've wasted hours doing nothing when you could have been driving through the park.
