The photos in this gallery (and single video at the end) were shot on August 30 and September 6. Both days were warm and sunny, just perfect for whale watching. Sheri and I took a traditional whale watching trip aboard a double-decker boat on Aug. 30. The boat was filled to capacity (48 people) and it was difficult to maneuver around. On Sept 6 I tried the less traditional approach in the rigid hull inflatable shown above. It was simply amazing. The weather and whales certainly cooperated, but this boat and her captain, Kate Spencer, give new meaning to "whale watching". With only 6 people on the boat and the freedom to roam around, it was an exceptional experience.
