It's mid-November on the Central California Coast. The past few months have been difficult with fires and other natural disasters hammering parts of the state, but not all the news is bad. El Nino, the presence of abnormally warm surface waters, seems to have passed, and La Nina, cool temps at the surface, seems to have returned.

Based on amazing reports coming out of Monterey Bay, Penny and I headed south to see what was going on.
