Orcas At Peninsula Valdes, Argentina
Read More84 / 97
Magellanic penguins are only found around the southern part of South America and the Falkland Islands. Peninusula Valdes is home to several large breeding colonies of magellanics. Following the breeding season, the penguins go to sea to feed, then return to their land burrows to undergo what's known as a catastrophic molt. Molting is stressful business. It takes 3 to 4 weeks to complete the process during which time the penguins are confined to land and unable to replenish fat stores.
