Orcas At Peninsula Valdes, Argentina
Read MoreWe arrived at Punta Norte around 12:30 PM. It was time for those with beach permits to gather for the .75 mile hike to the "attack channel" beach. Only 10 permits are issued per day at a cost of $255 each (just raised to $300). In order to qualify for a permit, you're supposed to be a pro photographer with pro photo equipment. The permits are only valid for still photography. Video permits cost $800 per day with fewer than 10 available.
We had 7 people in our group and only 6 permits per day. I was the last to sign up for this trip and only agreed to go when 2 people graciously gave up a permit so that I could go to the beach twice. After arriving in Argentina, another wonderful soul gave me another permit.
Those without permits must stay on the public viewing platforms. This was my day to stay on the platforms. Luis stayed with me while Pablo accompanied the group to the beach.
