Penny, Sheri and I visited Lodi on Nov 4. It was early in the sandhill crane season, but we'd read reports of fantastic evening "fly-ins" (when the cranes come back from feeding to roost for the night in the safety of shallow water). We got there around 11:30 AM, too early for our picnic lunch, but just right for sightseeing. This male harrier was one of the first birds we encountered.
