Barn Owls 2010

Sometime during the night of May 15-16, 2010, these 2 fledged. Joan and I found them huddled together in a tree very near their owl box on the morning of May 16. Last year, the babies stayed close to their box for about 2 weeks. A ranger told us there were 7! chicks in the box this year, so hopefully the rest will fledge over the next few days. Gail, our new owl expert, explained that white owls are males (something about attracting mates), and the darker ones are females (camouflage), so we've named this pair Moe (left) and Minnie (right).
