2017 Bay Area Osprey Nesting

2017 has been a banner year for osprey in the Bay Area, even though many of them have shifted where they nest. The return of bald eagles has forced osprey out of some of their fresh-water nesting spots, but the osprey have taken up residence along the Richmond shoreline in huge numbers. Without even trying, we found 5 nests, all occupied.
