4- Israel
Read MoreWe did so much in Israel I thought it would be helpful to show our itinerary on a map. We were met at the port in Haifa by our guide, Anat. She was a good-natured, no-nonsense Israeli and just perfect for us. We thought we knew what we wanted to do in our 2 days, but Anat quickly changed our minds. Actually, the conversation went something like this: Anat - "what do you want to do". Us - we told her what we'd planned. Anat - "no, that's not what you want to do" :-) We had a tentative itinerary I'd worked out with the tour company, Avitours, but Anat modified it within 60 seconds of meeting her. Not on our agenda was a quick tour of Haifa, so we started with that. We then moved down the coast to Caesarea; then to Jerusalem and Bethlehem (also not on the agenda); the next day to the Ein Gedi Nature Reserve, Masada, the Dead Sea, and finally back to the ship which had sailed to Ashdod overnight.
